Heeey Everyone!
The sun is ACTUALLY shining here in London and the first hectic-ness of the Olympics is taking hold. The games haven't started yet and already people are waiting 2 hours to get on the tube..... NOT looking forward to the crowds. Seriously.
Anyhooo, these nails are some of my favourites I've done in recent times. I actually decided to get a bit more technical and spend more time doing my nails as lack of inspiration has attacked me recently. Buuut I really like how these turned out! I saw a similar design here from Boom Nails and fell in love.
I hope everybody is having a briiiilliant start to the week. I'm off to the park in the sunshine to squidge my baby cousins.

PS Don't spend too long looking at my cuticles... They are suffering from severe neglect.

Nails Inc, Queensgate Terrace // Wig Wam back from Latitude
Heeeeeeeyyy!
I'm back after a looovely long weekend at Latitude Festival! I got to stay in a private area where I got treated like a celeb. Not even joking. We were cooked breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening to order. And there was a group of people just a bit younger than me at the house, and it took me aages to realise that they had been hired there to serve us drinks and respond to our demands....!!!!! So me and mes amis took it upon us to order pints, yes pints, of wine. I mean, it would have been rude to say no and it made it less boring for the people working there... right??
I really enjoyed the festival as it was soo laid back and actually quite family-oriented. Here are a couple of bands that I enjoyed watching the most:
Dingus Khan // A hilarious band with three drummers, three bassists and an electric ukulele. Pure attitude and comedy!!
I Break Horses // A Swedish group with loads of synth, progressive sounds and a whole load or reverbed vocals. Lovely!
Whilst it was a good weekend for music, it was a shocking one for nails. They pretty much got destroyed and ripped to bits over the 5 days so one of the first things I did when I got home was to re-paint! I wanted something quick, opaque and a one-coater so plumped for a polish I haven't shown you yet.
Not the most amazing piccies ever (cuticles in a bit of a state and visible nail lines, eek!) but I did them in a rush as I had to go out straight after coming back! It's a really pretty colour and the bar man last night said he liked them. I will take that as an excellent sign.
Thanks for reading, yo!

Nails Inc - Wardour Mews
Heeeey Everyone!
Recently I bought a little bargain Nails Inc set at TK Maxx that I just couldn't resist. Moi and Linzi are staunch fans of Nails Inc and bargains!!! 4 came in the sets and they all looked very sparkly and lovely in the box. This one is called Wardour Mews:
I did about 3 layers on these nails (I can't stand anything less than 2 coats innit!) and it turned out to be a slight holo polish (Is it a holo?? Does it count? I've never had one... but for these purposes I shall call it a holo!). It looked pretty cool but I actually think it turns out I'm not much of a sparkly holo girl. Looks stunning but it's just not very moi. Great for you girls (and maybe boys who may read this...?) that love a multi dimensional colour.
Whadya think, crew?

No 7 Gold Glitter Topcoat
Heeey Everyone!
I've been getting a bit glitter topcoat mental at the moment, so I just wanted to show you how the new limited edition No 7 glitter top coat in gold looks on nails.
The glitter is suspended quite sparsely, so unless you want a little mini coating of sparkles you might need to do a few layers, or simply squish it on top of the area you want it on. Take a look:
I've also been getting up to a little bit of baking for a friend's housewarming:

It was a lovely day and the party followed me back to the train station with armfuls of wine and glasses in a wine carrier. Didn't realise that it's illegal to drink on public transport in London so shhhhhh don't tell anyone!!

Rimmel Rock Your Glitter top coat
Heyyyy Readers!
So the other day when my mani was pretty old and chipping away (one week old!!) I was dragging a male friend through the beauty stands at Boots and came across Rimmel's Rock Your Glitter top coat and decided I would "test it out" on erm.... ALL my nails. Sneeeaky! I just about managed to use it on all my nails before a security guard came over to tell me off. Oh the shame!!
It was really easy to apply and super quick. Well, I had to be quick as the security guard came hovering over!!! I would recommend it if you want a little subtle glittery finish to your mani or if you want to make it a bit special. A bit too subtle for me so I ended up getting the polish you can see on the ring finger which is Miss Sporty's Sparkle Touch polish. Plus it was only £1.99!

The funny thing about not having a job is...
Hey Readers!
Unemployment is a strange thing... you know you should be doing something productive at all times. Looking up new jobs, working out what is you actually want to do in life (for the record I have NO idea) sifting through all the helpful suggestions of career paths from friends and family and occasionally actually applying for some jobs. I can tell you it hasn't been going well. Unemployment is also the exact same time you remember how fun all your hobbies are, and suddenly find all these projects you have lying around the house unfinished!
At least I've had some time to do a bit of volunteering at a local charity shop. My first task was to dress the shop window. Talk about dropping me in the deep end! I had a shop full of second hand clothes and this is what I came up with:
Unemployment is also a time when you have limited monetary funds, so of course I start buying loads of lovely things!! Take a look at some of the things I've purchased in Mexico and back in the UK...
Fruit pieces and metallic balls from Mexico
Striping tape from ebay
![]() |
Bargain buys: two Sally Hansen Diamond Strengths and the Glam Shine 6 hour L'Oreal lip gloss
In the last photo are my bargain buys of the week! I bought them at a make-up stall on Portobello Road Market at the weekend and they all cost a bargain £8 for the lot!!! I tried out the lipgloss on a night out on Saturday (yes don't remind me I am unemployed and penniless... that's just the way I roll haaha) and it did actually last aaaages. Perhaps not for 6 hours if you're having a few (or lots of) drinks but it def had the staying power.
As for the rest of the stuff, I shall be testing them all out in the coming weeks. Obviously between feverishly applying for jobs!!

PS Anyone got career ideas for me??

Birthday suit nails
Heyy!
In other nail related news I have just ordered myself some lovely nail decals after reading Sunny's post and seeing her frankly beautiful nail art. I am tres excited nail-lovers! As soon as they arrive I am slapping them on and posting about it!! I also have a shedload of new bits and pieces I bought from a shop in Guadalajara in Mexico that I need to try out. Me and The Sis were in heaven when we chanced on a WHOLE STREET dedicated to nail art supplies!! So now I have lots of mini fruit slices and gold foils (I'm not really sure how to use the foils?!) Coming soon in a post near you!!
I'm a bit slow on the style uptake, and it is actually probably quite passé now but I decided to try a really neutral shade out. My auntie calls it mushroom but I guess nude will do!

Model's Own Nude Beige
Please excuse the dirty mirror
This is only my second Model's Own nail varnish and I have to say they are really easy to apply. Not gloopy or streaky and very opaque so you don't always need 2 coats. I just feel safer if I do!!
I realised that this kind of colour makes your hand look extra long and almost like Disney princess hands!???! Look at Belle's hands:

Fruit Pastels..
Hello Readers!
About 3 months ago I opened the new look edition of Company magazine and almost threw up when I saw all the pastel colours dominating the pages. I seriously thought "WHO would wear colours like that?!"
But since then I have had to eat some humble pie and have realised that pastels look GREAT on nails. That, or the fashion industry has infiltrated my brain godammit!! Pretty much after the purchase of my lovely candymintapple Essie I have luuurved pastels on nails. Especially since it brings out your tan, ohh yeahhh!

My first ever ESSIE!!!!
Hi All!
So it seems my blog has become monthly!! I think it's mainly cos I love my manis and let them last for ages (along with a little help from Seche Vite's staying powers) so hardly ever change my nail varnish around.
I recently saw a luuurvely colour onWhat I Heart Today in an instagram pic and fell in lust with it. A quick rummage around ebay and 2 day's worth of waiting for the postman to come and TA DA!! An amazing colour. I honestly can't think of the last time I have loved a colour so much. And the formula was incredible too.
What do you think?

Poached Eggies
Hello Readers!
So this week I tried out the strawberry Barry M and I have to say I wasn't very impressed... It really didn't suit my skin tone so I decided to 'fix it' with a bit of a tape mani with a lovely glittery varnish that has no name (I used it in my tape mani in my second ever post!) It still came out pretty rubbish so before showing you lot how they came out, I'll show you my amazing breakfast I made this morning so the mani won't look as bad!!!!
I took a day off work so that my cold germs stay at home rather than infect my co-workers, so I decided to have a yummilicious breakfast that I usually wouldn't be bothered or have time to make. Cue in mine and my dad's breakfast that we eat together and BAM! Poached eggies on toast. Yuuumm! Buttery and salty yey! And I'm not even gonna talk about the disaster nails. Not even a last ditch attempt of layering China Glaze Matte Magic helped them. Methinks one of my 'get better' activities today will be to re-do my nails.

I don't like animals but I like guinea pigs for my artistic stylings.
Hellooo Readers!
These past few days have been a bit nail-centric on the family front. Suddenly all female relatives have realised that I quite like doing other people's nails, and I have been inundated with requests!
So my auntie asked for something different and gave me free reign. Which of course means trying out my new dotting tools!! Now, I don't know if any of you own dotting tools but I was a bit sceptical at first. They are literally little metal rods with balls on the end (like ziiis one over here) and I thought PAH I can make my own. Buut I couldn't be bothered so voila - dotting tools ahoy!
In the end I used 2 coats of my colour of the moment (the turquoise Rimmel number) with a cheapo H&M yellow. I have since realised that to be successful with a dotting tool you have to have quite a bit of polish on the end. Not soo much that it is dripping, but a good amount! I finished them off with a bit of Seche Vite to lock it all in place. Sadly auntie decided to take 4 month old cousin for a bath and ruined the old nails.
And TA-DA!! Here are the finished nails (unfortunately post said incident):

Oo first post. How exciting!
Helloo internet readers!
Having spent the last 4 weekends holed up at home thanks to a ridiculous number of consecutive colds, I became a little hermit being forced to live vicariously through the medium of the internet. I had of course, heard of blogs and blogging but never thought much of it until faced with not being allowed out of the house for fear of making the colds worse. After coming across many a wonderful blog (mostly about nails, fashion, beauty and cute DIY ideas) I thought why not give it a try myself?? Everybody needs a little creative outlet don't they? So here is my first little (or not so little) post just to ease me into the kingdom of blog world. Tis my first go at proper nail art. Leopard-print stylee. I hope you like!
